Incredible detail, rich texture, and natural materials bring warmth and soul to this home’s clean, modern design. These clients contacted CBID during their new home build, looking to create spaces that felt nurturing and cohesive while offering aesthetic interest. We were tasked with taking a modern design and enriching it with history, personality, and intentional detail. We designed the Great Room fireplace and surrounding areas to achieve a sense of elevated comfort. The fireplace wall, crafted with tobacco sticks, is a nod to the Durham heritage of growing tobacco and is contrasted with an enormous zinc finish tile at the fireplace. A dappled Venetian plaster finishes both the range hood and fireplace, mirroring interest without sacrificing cohesion.
Each detail was carefully considered to complement our client’s tastes and personality, including their significant (and beautiful) art collection. The collaborators on this project are a team of talented craftsmen, each contributing to the timeless, inviting home: JSH Designs, Staresina Design Works, Finish Pros Upholsery, and Brittany Morgan of Traditions in Tile, Brier Creek.
